I hope many of you have been enjoying the activities this weekend as part of the SMILE Thinking Day Event.

Thinking Day is a time we traditionally come together to think about Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world and we encourage everyone to think about the big issues affecting them and their global community. This year especially we will be thinking about our own units, districts, divisions, and counties that have been unable to meet together in the way we normally would, to experience the fun and friendship that we associate with being part of Girlguiding. It has been a very different year and we have seen a blended offer happening across the region.

Some units are meeting virtually, some units are posting activities, others had some face-to-face sessions when tier restrictions allowed, and for some the virtual offer has not been possible. Whether we have met together or not we are all still members of Girlguiding.

I want to thank all our adult volunteers who have given so much this year in challenging circumstances. Many are key workers, some have had home schooling commitments, caring responsibilities and may have concerns over jobs. Our promise asks us to do our best and I know all our volunteers have done that this year and have supported each other, their communities, and their girls.

Our promise renewal takes place tonight at 6pm and you can join in on Facebook or YouTube and make or renew your promise with everyone around the region.
