Girlguiding Midlands was delighted to host a virtual event for Debbie Warden where she was presented with the Laurel Award by Abi Salter Chief Commissioner
Last night Warwickshire Executive held an important Zoom meeting with a difference! All dressed in an assortment of amazing headwear they welcomed Chief Commissioner Abi, her Deputy Sandy, Clare Shinton - Chief Commissioner Designate, and Chair of Awards Lesley Knighton to this specially convened meeting.
At an agreed time, a rather bemused Debbie Warden was invited into the meeting to allegedly talk to the meeting about International opportunities! Abi, wearing a fetching little gold crown, welcomed Debbie to HER meeting. Even more confused by now, Debbie listened whilst Abi spoke of the outstanding service Debbie had given over so many years to Guiding and read some of the lovely comments made in the supporting letters. After hearing of some of the amazing events Debbie had been responsible for, as well as her role as County Commissioner, Trainer and unit leader, Abi announced that she had been awarded Girlguiding’s Laurel Award.
County Commissioner, Jane Bennett then presented Debbie with her well deserved beautiful brooch. It was especially lovely for Debbie that her sister Marg was also able to join in this special event all the way from South Africa!
This is the first award to be presented virtually in the Midlands Region and it was clearly a very successful, happy event.
Sincere congratulations to Debbie and huge thanks for all she has done for Girlguiding.
