Beverley Suffell

  • What does the role of Outdoor Activities Adviser involve?  What do you hope to achieve as part of this role?

This role is to ensure that all members of Girlguiding can enjoy a range of adventurous activities, both inside and outdoors, in a safe environment with enthusiastic Leaders who are trained for that activity.

What other roles do you have in guiding?

My other roles in Guiding are Rainbow, Brownie and Ranger Leader and Division Commissioner designate for Rugby Division.

What relevant previous experiences have you had which led you to this Region role?

I have just completed 5 years as OAA for Warwickshire and was Assistant Camp Chief for our County International Camp.

What is your favourite thing you have done, or your greatest achievement, as a member of Girlguiding?

Difficult to choose as I have been involved with Girlguiding for many years. However, I have been privileged to have been on three long haul trips where we have been working in the community and have seen what a difference these trips make to the young women, we take with us. Talking to them after the trip it is rewarding to hear about their degree and career choices and how the trip has shaped their futures.

What do you enjoy outside guiding?

Outside Guiding I like to spend time with my family, I enjoy walking, theatre trips and reading.

What is your favourite biscuit and why?

My favourite biscuit is Rich Tea, reliable when dunked into any situation but best served with a mug of tea.

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?

         Reliable, friendly and bonkers.
