Brownies and Guides from across the Midlands took a walk on the wild side during a girl-only day of adventure at the West Midland Safari Park in Bewdley on Sunday 12 June.

Over 4000 Girlguiding members from across the Midlands took over the park for the fun-filled trip, where they had exclusive use of the park and its exciting rides and attractions including Land of the Living Dinosaurs and the Discovery Trail.

During the day, the girls all aged between 7 and 14, also had the fantastic opportunity to meet the animals at the park including new baby rhino, Ekozu and the resident meerkats.

To celebrate their adventurous day out, all the girls earnt a special badge to take home at the end of the trip.

Charlotte, 10, from 7th Leicester Brownies, pictured above far right, said: “I’ve had a really excellent day out, I really liked seeing all the animals on the safari, especially the elephants and the baby rhino”.

Megan Thomas, Leader with 7thLeicester Brownies added: “Going on a trip to West Midland Safari Park was a really exciting adventure for the girls. They loved seeing all the animals and really enjoyed choosing which rides to go on. It was great to have the park to ourselves - it felt like a really safe environment and it was nice for the girls to see all the other Brownies and Guides who were there and realise that they are part of such a large movement.”

Ian Warrington, Head of Food and Beverage and event organiser at West Midland Safari Park said, “We were really excited to host Girlguiding members from across the Midlands for their take over day. We love having large groups onsite and were very grateful that Girlguiding chose us at their venue. We hope everyone had a fantastic day –with every single girl leaving with a big smile on her face!”
