Girls explore the globe at art-tastic activity day

Over 3000 members from across the Midlands Region got stuck into hundreds of different international themed hands on workshops and interactive activities. This unique girl only celebration event was held at Newark Showground on 21st February to coincide with Thinking Day, a special day for members of Girlguiding which celebrates the birthday of Scouting and Guiding founders Robert and Olave Baden-Powell.

Girls visited four different zones and tried out activities from a choice of drama, music and movement, and crafts. Popular activities included the demanding but delicious cycle powered smoothie bar, the pom pom filled cheerleading workshop, loud and lively bhangra dancing, and every girl also designed and made their very own monster to take home.

3rd Bingham Brownies Leader Jo Brown said  "Some of the girls have not been to anything this big before. They're getting to try out so many different things - activities they would never normally have a chance to try- and they have really enjoyed it."

The day drew to a close with a spectacular finale featuring a singing performance from Cerys Whitfield, the winner of Girlguiding’s Got Talent, and a Katy Perry tribute act.
